About Us

Mrs. Little

Welcome!  I am a proud graduate of Meredith College.  I have a BA in Psychology and I hold a North Carolina teaching license in ESL Education (K-12) and Elementary Education.  I have a very supportive husband and three active daughters.  I can often relate to the parents of my students because we share common goals.  We want our children and students to have the best education possible.  The best way for a student to achieve success is to create and maintain a positive and communicative relationship between the parent, the student, and the teacher.

As an ESL teacher, I understand and respect each student's individual culture.  As a Cuban-American, I can relate to my students' strengths and struggles.  My primary focus is to help students gain literacy skills in the English language while continuing to promote literacy skills in the students' native languages.  I believe wholeheartedly that literacy skills transfer from one language to another.  I am here as an advocate for my students as well as a resource for parents and my fellow educators.

In my free time, I love to read, spend time with my family, watch Masterpiece dramas, and work in our garden!  I look forward to getting to know all of my students and help them become successful speakers, readers, listeners, and writers of English!

Mrs. Liu

Hello students and families!  I am very excited to spend my 3rd year teaching ESL to elementary students.  After having taught college English in China for about 10 years, I moved to US in 1998 with my daughter to join my husband, who came here before us.  I had also taught middle school ESL for 7 years in Wake County. No matter how old the students are, it’s always important to start where they are, work to meet their individual needs, and to fulfill their greatest potentials.

As an ESL teacher and former ESL student parent, I really understand the challenges students face emotionally or academically, and I know how to help them since my daughter was three years old when she came to America and not understanding any English.

I was born and grew up in Dalian, China, a beautiful, coastal fashion city.  I graduated from Liaoning University in 1988, and then spent a year in the graduate school in Jilin University for teaching training. I also received my computer programming certificate from North Carolina State University.

I love watching all kinds of sports, hiking in Umstead Park, cooking, reading inspiring stories, and going to church with my husband.

Mrs. Escoto, Student Teacher

Let me introduce myself. My name is Marion Escoto and I am a MAT ESL Graduate student from Meredith College. I will be student teaching this semester with Jennell Little. I am so delighted to work with you and your student for the next 3 months. Teaching is an absolute passion of mine! I have wanted to become a teacher since I was 5 years old! I am so excited to be teaching in such a wonderful school with amazing families like yours. I cannot wait to get to know you and your precious children. I thought you might like to know a little more about me.

I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in English and Special Education from Radford University. I have worked with children for the last 25 years as a preschool teacher, special education teacher, and a teacher’s assistant. I cannot imagine myself doing anything else. It is my desire to become a lifelong teacher for your child and to make sure they are given an opportunity to learn in a safe and loving environment.

I grew up in a small rural town in Virginia with a large but loving Italian family. I moved to North Carolina in 1997, where I met my husband Jose of 20 years. We have 4 beautiful children, Anna 18 (who just started her first year of Meredith College), Seve 16, Anthony 14, and Isabella 12. Our family enjoys soccer (my 2 boys play on soccer teams for high school), going to the beach, taking walks on cool days, and just being together. My husband is from Mexico and I am from Italian descent. It is very important to us that our children learn and become inspired about our Mexican and Italian cultures and traditions, so they can recognize their heritage and value their identities.
